Northern Line

The north coast route linking Jakarta to Surabaya via Cirebon, Semarang and Bojonegoro. This is the fastest of the two Jakarta–Surabaya corridors and the one served by Argo Bromo Anggrek. Scenery is flat and coastal — rice fields, ports and glimpses of the Java Sea — so it suits travellers who want to arrive quickly rather than sightsee from the window. It is also the corridor where the newer-generation economy carriages, with forward-facing 2+2 seating, appear most often.
