Cirebon to Jakarta by Train

Under three hours back to the capital, with departures frequent enough that you can more or less turn up and go.
Which class to book
Ekonomi. With this many departures, pick the time that suits and ignore the class entirely.

About 220km west along the north coast, taking two and a half to three hours. Frequency is exceptional because every westbound northern service calls at Cirebon, so this is one of the few Indonesian routes where turning up and taking the next train is a realistic plan.

Which station you leave from matters. Kejaksan is the main and more central station; Prujakan handles most ekonomi services and is less convenient. Check your ticket rather than assuming.

Which trains run this route: Argo Cheribon is the dedicated service. Beyond it, essentially every westbound Semarang and Surabaya train stops here, plus southern-line services coming up from Purwokerto.

Cirebon works well as a day trip in either direction. Batik buyers head for the workshops at Trusmi; the sultan's palaces are in town. Either fills a day comfortably before an evening train back to Jakarta.
