Purwokerto marks the point where the southern line climbs into the hills and is the gateway to Baturraden. Probolinggo is the standard jumping-off point for Mount Bromo. Banyuwangi matters most of all: Ketapang station sits beside the ferry terminal for Bali, making the island reachable from Java entirely by public transport.
