Pariaman to Padang
About 65km back down the West Sumatra coast from Pariaman to Padang, taking around an hour and a half, with sea views for much of the way.
Note the name change. Many guides still call this the Sibinuang, but the service was renamed Pariaman Express under the GAPEKA 2023 timetable in June 2023. It is the same train, operated by KAI Regional Division II West Sumatra on the Naras to Padang to Pauh Lima line.
Booking. This is a local service and does not appear on KAI's long-distance booking website. Buy it in the KA Lokal section of the Access by KAI app, through Traveloka or tiket.com, or at the station counter. At Rp 5,000 there is no reason to book far ahead.
Pariaman station sits beside Gandoriah beach, so the return leg is easy to time around an afternoon at the coast. Return departures run into the early evening.
Scale your expectations. A regional line with a handful of daily departures and basic rolling stock, connected to nothing else. Reaching Medan or Palembang from West Sumatra means flying or a very long road journey.
