From Bandung

Bandung sits at around 700m in the Priangan highlands, and every route out of it is scenic. Trains west to Jakarta climb through tea plantations and cross colonial-era viaducts over deep ravines; trains east towards Yogyakarta and Surabaya run the length of Java's southern line through some of the best railway scenery in Asia. Bandung station is central. The separate high-speed Whoosh service uses Padalarang and Tegalluar, both well outside the city, so factor in the transfer.
