From Jakarta

Jakarta is the hub of the Indonesian rail network and the starting point for most visitors. Long-distance services leave from two very different stations: Gambir, centrally placed near Monas, handles eksekutif departures, while Pasar Senen serves ekonomi services and is busier and rougher. They are not interchangeable, so check which one your ticket shows. From here you can reach Bandung, Cirebon, Semarang, Yogyakarta, Solo, Surabaya and Malang directly, along with the high-speed Whoosh service and the airport rail link.
